NEW TO CROSSFIT?

CrossFit is a lifestyle characterized by safe, functional, effective exercise and sound nutrition. CrossFit can be used to accomplish any goal, from improving health to weight loss to better performance. The program works for everyone – people who have never been to a gym or worked out to people who are professional athletes and trained for years to young children to elder adults. CrossFit is designed to build overall and comprehensive level of fitness in functional competence in all 10 key physical parameters: cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy.

HISTORY OF CROSSFIT

CrossFit is a branded fitness regimen created by Greg Glassman in 1996 with the original CrossFit gym in Santa Cruz California. Now there are over 13,000 affiliated CrossFit gyms all over the world. CrossFit has expounded to now being used by fire departments, law enforcement, military and even in schools by physical education teachers, college sports teams, professional sports and also in rehabilitative medicine.

WHAT TO EXPECT

CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program consisting of a mix of aerobic exercise, calisthenics, and Olympic weightlifting. It has constantly varied functional movement executed at high intensity with the goal of improving fitness and health. The classes are one hour in length including a warm-up, skill development or weightlifting segment, the work out of the day (“WOD”) and cooldown/stretching.
