Jose Reyes is a CrossFit Level 2 Trainer whose coaching approach combines practical experience, continued education, and more than a decade of military service. He has completed additional CrossFit education in areas including running, gymnastics, and weightlifting, and continues to expand his knowledge of strength, conditioning, and human performance.
Outside the gym, Jose serves in the U.S. Army Reserve, where he currently leads physical fitness programming and education for his unit. His military background includes Airborne School, combatives training, firearms instruction, multiple deployments, and years of experience leading and developing Soldiers in demanding environments. That experience has shaped a coaching style centered on preparation, adaptability, accountability, and performing well under pressure.
Jose is also pursuing a career in conservation law enforcement and has successfully completed the competitive selection processes for conservation officer positions in both Florida and North Carolina, finishing among the top candidates during their physical fitness assessments. His experience preparing for military and law enforcement standards gives him a particular interest in working with athletes pursuing careers in the military, law enforcement, conservation, and other first responder professions.
Jose believes good coaching goes beyond simply getting athletes through a workout. He emphasizes helping athletes understand movement, intensity, scaling, and the purpose behind their training so they can become more capable and confident over time. Whether someone is preparing for a demanding military or first responder career, developing their fundamental fitness, or simply looking to perform better in everyday life, his goal is to make training challenging, approachable, and sustainable.
At CrossFit Sea Dog, Jose brings an energetic and practical coaching style focused on quality movement, thoughtful progression, and developing fitness that translates beyond the gym.
